We recommend opting for 15N8N Steel Tongue Drum with 20 notes across two drums. You can play 99% of the songs on the market. We also recommend our Green, which has a color that is gentle on the eyes. Making it easier to practice for long hours without strain.
What’s the difference between matte and pearl finishes?
The main difference lies in the paint finish. The pearl finish uses a more complex coating process, which makes it slightly more expensive due to higher labor costs. However, both finishes offer the same high-quality sound and material, so you can choose based on personal preference and budget.
What material is the steel tongue drum made of?
Our drums are made from 310 stainless steel, which is a professional-grade material known for its durability and longevity. With proper care, these drums can last over 10 years without losing pitch. The mallets are made of ebony, and the mallet heads are made of rubber for optimal sound and comfort.
How many notes does the steel tongue drum have?
The Steel Tongue Drum is a fixed-pitch instrument, so it does not require tuning after purchase. You can choose between different tunings, with the most popular being D major. The drum can have different numbers of notes depending on the model (15-note or 8-note), providing a wide range of musical possibilities.
Is the tuning accurate?
Yes! All of our drums are professionally tuned at the factory with three rounds of fine-tuning. The tuning tolerance is within ±5 cents, ensuring excellent pitch accuracy. You can be assured of the precision of your instrument.
How should I take care of the steel tongue drum?
If you're not using the drum for an extended period, we recommend storing it in a protective drum bag to prevent accidental damage from bumps or drops. Keep the drum in a dry environment to avoid moisture affecting the metal or wood.
What is the range of notes for 15N8N steel tongue drum?
- Large drum (15 notes): The notes range from #F3 to #F5, covering three octaves.
Notes: #F3, G3, A3, B3, #C4, D4, E4, #F4, G4, A4, B4, #C5, D5, E5, #F5 - Small drum (8 notes): The notes range from D5 to D6.

Why don’t steel tongue drums use the C major?
The C major tends to produce a heavier low-end tone, whereas the D major creates a lighter and more resonant low-end sound. This lighter tone is generally more pleasing to the ear. For this reason, we use the D major for our steel tongue drums, as it delivers a more balanced and melodic sound overall.
Why doesn’t the large drum have the lower Do and Re
Because they are rarely used in everyday music. The 15 notes steel tongue drum covering three octaves. This range is more than sufficient to play 99% of musical pieces.
What is the sound production principle of the steel tongue drum?
